Toddler Dance - Parent/Child class for Boys & Girls Ages 24 months - 3 years
Music, movement, balance and the basic dance steps are introduced in this fun, friendly, and positive atmosphere to our youngest dancers. This dance class involves mom or dad (or any caretaker) to participate in the class alongside the child, taking an active role in encouraging, supporting, and keeping our tiny dancers on track. This class is offered in 6 week sessions. This program does not participate in the year end recital.

Preschool 1 - Boys & Girls Ages 3 & 4

A combination of creative movement and beginning pre-ballet skills are introduced. This 45-minute class is geared toward improving basic motor skills, agility and rhythm. Dancers will perform a Ballet dance in the Children’s Program Showcase.

Preschool 2 - Boys and Girls Age 5

Continuing from Preschool 1, this 45-minute class will combine both pre-ballet & beginning Tap for pre-school age dancers. This class is geared toward improving basic motor skills, agility and rhythm. Dancers will perform a Tap dance in the Children’s Program Showcase.

This class is for dancers who have completed a Preschool 1 class at Dance Spectrum or is 5 years in age or older. Acrobatics uses strength and flexibility to perform gymnastic-based tricks. In this class, students perform conditioning exercises to prepare them for increased difficulty.

Tap teaches dancers to understand rhythm and timing while working to improve their footwork and agility.

Jazz is energetic, upbeat and fun with consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick turns.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip hop music, and includes a wide range of styles like breaking, locking, and popping.

Lyrical is a combination of both jazz and ballet styles with high concentration on technique. It focuses on fluid and expressive movements, oftentimes with an emphasis on emotion.

Musical Theatre

Musical theater is a combination of dancing and acting, similar to what would be seen in musicals and Broadway shows. Dancers learn to incorporate a personality or story line into their dancing.

The main goal of Ballet is to learn and improve upon one’s technique, which will be used as a foundation in every subject of dance. In ballet, dancers learn to execute classical movements with grace. Level 1 is for dancers with less than 3 years of ballet experience. Level 2 is for dancers with 3 or more years of ballet experience.

Before beginning pointe work, a Ballet dancer must undertake many pre-pointe exercises to ensure they are strong enough to dance on pointe without injury. All Pre-pointe dancers must take an additional non-performing Ballet Class on Saturday mornings, 9-9:45am. Dancers must be 12 years old and have at least 3 years of ballet training before starting the pre-pointe program.

Pointe is available to advanced Ballet students by teacher recommendation.
